Lake Mead Boating Earth Day

At Temple Bar Marina, we’re all about preserving Lake Mead’s natural beauty and ensuring its ecosystem thrives. Now with Earth Day approaching, we’re doubling down on our commitment to sustainability and conservation in everything we do.

Overall, Earth Day is the perfect time to celebrate nature and the steps we’re taking as a community to protect it. As such, we’ve offered an incredible opportunity here at Temple Bar to appreciate the outdoors, all while ensuring our environmental impact is kept in check.

Celebrating Earth Day Doing Our Part to Protect Lake Mead

At Temple Bar Marina, we’ve implemented numerous eco-conscious initiatives to help sustain Lake Mead’s delicate ecosystem. Here’s how we’re playing our part to ensure the lake stays healthy:

  • Tire and Foam Removal: We’ve taken significant steps to remove tires and foam from the marina’s break wall, which have long been a source of pollution.
  • Boneyard Clean-Up: A detailed plan is in place to remove unnecessary old sections from the boneyard, with efforts to eliminate all remaining pieces underway.
  • AIS Certification: Multiple employees have completed Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) certification through NAISMA, expanding our expertise in combatting threats to Lake Mead’s ecosystem.
  • Safe Fuel Practices: We conduct regular training sessions for safe fueling procedures, reducing risks from potential oil and gas spills.
  • Hazardous Waste Training: Additional HAZWOPER training dates have been set to extend employee knowledge on hazardous waste handling.
  • Waste Management Excellence: Our marina stays up-to-date with best practices for hazardous waste storage and disposal.
  • Future-Proofing Infrastructure: Plans are in place to replace septic lines with improved systems in 2025, further reducing environmental impact.
  • Shoreline Care: Our team regularly collects trash and contaminated materials from the shoreline to maintain a pristine lakefront.
  • Community Education: We actively engage with our moorage customers about proper waste disposal practices to minimize pollution.

These actions underscore our dedication to safeguarding Lake Mead’s environment. But we know we can’t do it alone; we need your help, too.
